A message from Jason Ryder, Headteacher
Welcome to Hannah’s School at Ivybridge, where we are committed to providing high quality education to children and young people who have complex physical and medical difficulties and a wide range of associated learning difficulties via an integrated, sensory process of individual learning and development. Our school is registered with the Department for Education for children from the ages of 3 years to 19 years.
Our aim is to fully support each child or young person to achieve everything that is possible in school, with their family their friends and in their leisure time. School should be and is an enjoyable place to be!
There is a very strong commitment to each young person, each of whom is at the centre of what we set out to do. This model is supported by highly experienced specialist teachers and support workers as well as the input of a range of professionals such as speech and language therapists, physiotherapists, occupational therapists and nurses.
Our Ofsted inspection in November 2016 resulted in a grade of GOOD with OUTSTANDING.
“...the school’s work to promote pupil’s personal development and welfare is outstanding”
We aim to enable students to access education to the maximum and therapies, particularly speech and language therapy underpin this. Effective communication is key.
Visitors to the school remark upon the lovely atmosphere which is apparent from the moment you enter.
I would like to extend to you a very warm Hannah’s School welcome. If you would like to pay us a visit simply make contact with myself or the Administrator, in order to ensure that the relevant people are available to see you and to answer any of your questions.
Our values and ethos
Where the child comes first….
Hannah’s School is committed to placing our children at the centre of a learning journey which supports them to achieve everything they can. Using a curriculum which is shaped to suit each child they will develop their skills in order to enhance their daily and ongoing life choices in school, Post 16, with their families and friends and as they move into young adulthood. Children and young people access a wide range of resources and up to date support and equipment. Regardless of their learning, physical and medical difficulties they and their families will be supported by a multi- disciplinary education and therapy team all of whom support them in their successes and achievements…. and in having fun! Our school offers a total communication environment and a holistic approach in which... the child comes first.
